The Mentor
Section titled “The Mentor”Backed your shop with the loan that got you started. Leaves a dossier on your counter with guides and letters.
Dr. Jackson
Section titled “Dr. Jackson”Sells machines and gadgets, including the Smuggler, a device for hiding contraband. Since patch 48.3.10 he also sells the water trading guide.
Joe Wild
Section titled “Joe Wild”Sells perks that keep you protected. The Wild Network upgrades in the playtest (Retired Water Merchant, Gutterflow on Tap, Rustwater on Tap) carry his name.
The Landlord
Section titled “The Landlord”Collects the rent, which keeps rising. Falling behind has real consequences; see Rent, customers & your shop.
The Security Inspector
Section titled “The Security Inspector”Inspects your shop. A clean inspection earns Security reputation, unless contraband was on display (patch 48.3.12).
Customers
Section titled “Customers”Anyone at the counter could be a Security officer fishing for evidence, a revolutionary looking for leverage, or a fallen member of the elite testing how useful you are. Some offer barter instead of cash. A few essential recurring customers cannot be shot (patch 48.3.10). Some of them are augs; see Augs & the rogue AI.
