Playtest Ledger: numbers and next steps

- One month of playtest stats and feedback. Players want more of everything: unique customers, starting perks, items and machines.
- Gambling and the Rock Bottom hard-mode scenario are big hits.
- Quality-of-life changes so far: handling several items at once, equipping tools through the toolbox keybind, inventory sorting, better full screen on non-16:9 monitors, and most of the localization fixes.
- Store customization is on the developers’ radar.
- The release date and the new demo arrive on September 14 during the tinyBuild Connect livestream.
100,000 wishlists and the demo announcement

- 100,000 wishlists and 100,000 playtest players.
- Demo on September 14 (a demo, not another playtest) with the new Water Merchant scenario. Playtest saves transfer to it.
- Demo changes: moving and using several items at once, better non-16:9 support, an upgradable bottle printer, a tool equip mode with a toolbox for number-key binds, bug fixes, balance changes, a new machine, a new challenge perk, new items, and the missing CN/DE/JP/RU translations.
- Some of these are already on the Beta branch.
Playtest patch 48.3.12: The Rat Wrangler

- The Rat Wrangler scenario, previously secret, is now visible on the starting scenario screen.
- Inspections cleared after showing contraband in the display case no longer grant Security reputation, closing a reputation farm.
- Fixes:
- The info tooltip and scratcher tickets work in full screen on non-16:9 monitors.
- The furnace’s Junk Processing Module no longer secretly uses double the power it shows.
- Shooting an aug in Hard Mode no longer advances the aug game-over meter.
- Shooting someone as they leave no longer softlocks the game.
- Cassettes you don’t own can’t be stored in the cassette player.
- The buggy “nutrichips” item no longer appears.
Playtest patch 48.3.10: Rock Bottom & water upgrade

- New hardcore scenario Rock Bottom: you start with nothing.
- Dr. Jackson now sells a water trading guide.
- New Wild Network upgrades: Retired Water Merchant, Gutterflow on Tap, Rustwater on Tap.
- Full screen with black bars on non-16:9 monitors, and a 60 FPS cap.
- Changes:
- The display case is off on day one when the tutorial is on.
- Blank disposable keycards can’t go in the cryptographic desequencer’s output slot.
- The cassette player resumes after loading.
- The poison icon in underground exchange directives is now the cyanide pill.
- The vacuum robot explains that it runs at night and has a manual mode.
- At −40 Black Market reputation you keep the janitorial service, at double the cost.
- The “Augmented” ending (too many missed augs) now only happens in Hard Mode.
- Fixes:
- You can no longer use bandages you don’t own.
- Cassette auto-play works after reloading.
- OS language settings no longer cause localization issues (needs a fresh save).
- Essential recurring customers can’t be shot.
- The attractiveness meter matches its real value with bonuses such as the Mirage Projector.
- You no longer get stuck with the security inspector.
- German, Russian and Chinese text is no longer mixed up.
- Inventory no longer locks up after some UI actions.
- Phone orders are no longer lost when you hang up too early.
- Barter customers no longer offer nothing.
- One inventory grid line is no longer thicker than the rest.
- The post hinted at a secret scenario on the profession screen. It turned out to be the Rat Wrangler.
Announcement and open playtest

- Probably Stolen is announced, and the playtest opens the same day.
- It started as a solo project by Bei Ning Pan, who now works with four artists and three audio developers. It grew out of a shelved turn-based station crawler called Space Looter.
- Inspirations: Space Station 13 and a bit of Papers, Please.
