Officer Lun

Officer Lun

Officer Lun is more than the officer who explains the wanted list. His later visits turn a routine customer into a story about injury, dependence and abuse of authority.

Stage What happens
Patrol He has forgotten his lunchbox and wants food
Wounded A man in a grey jumpsuit ambushed him; he wants strong medicine and says contraband is acceptable off the books
The attacker A separate customer offers “found” goods; the arrest branch identifies him as Lun’s attacker
Back on duty Lun returns from the Medbay and still asks for strong pain relief
“Surplus” sale He offers confidential equipment at 33% off if you take everything
Surprise inspection He claims to be conducting an inspection and seizes narcotics if he finds them

The last two are conditional, not guaranteed visits: both require Lun’s addiction state to be above zero. The inspection also requires that he has not already been arrested.

The medicine scenes distinguish acceptable pain relief, contraband and the Black Injector. They contain different responses; “stronger is always better” is not a safe summary of the branches.

Reporting the surplus sale exposes equipment missing from the Armory. Reporting the inspection exposes that Lun should be on desk duty; the responding officers arrest him for abuse of power. His being a Security officer does not make either offer legitimate.

The ordinary Security surplus merchant is a different customer. Do not confuse that merchant’s 15% bulk discount with Lun’s 33% offer. See Security and Wanted for the general systems.
