Dumping Grounds

Scrap metal

The Dumping Grounds is where you search for supplies yourself after hours. It is not a shop. Searches cost attempts and can cause minor or major wounds.

This build starts with 5 searches, with 2 extra from the Proficient Scavenger starting perk; the Degenerative Osteoarthritis perk takes them away over time (see Starting scenarios). Injury and other eligibility checks can still prevent further searches; use the displayed remaining attempts and condition rather than assuming you can always use the full allowance.

A Flashlight is checked in the wound-risk calculation; it does not make scavenging injury-proof. Tools carried in the after-hours inventory can add extra finds:

Tool or condition Extra possibility
Screwdriver Metal Screws
Wire Cutter Wire
Welder Scrap metal
Scav Scanner Another roll of the normal loot pool, using its double-loot-chance stat; upgraded with Electronic Parts
You do not own a small Satchel An extra chance of finding one
Other random branches A degraded music cassette and a Mouse Trap

These are chance-based additions, not guaranteed rewards every search. The tool checks use the after-hours inventory, so bring them with you.

The following nine groups are read from the loot pool actually called by this search. They list possible roll results, not an entire bundle per search. Random modules do not guarantee the illustrated shape or stats. The separate “fresh scrap” pool is not mixed into this list, and finds the demo cannot create are left out.

Take the items you want to keep and pay attention to the game’s warning about leaving goods behind. For buying a particular tool, check Jackson’s workshop. Spare finds may also be useful in the Underground Exchange.
