Metallurgy manual

The
Metallurgy Manual is the furnace reference. For the interactive machine view, open the Furnace workbench.
Basic recipe
Section titled “Basic recipe”Put two pieces of
Metal Ore or
Scrap Metal into a powered furnace. The furnace works overnight and produces one
Metal Ingot.
| Input | Result |
|---|---|
| 2 × Metal Ore | 1 × Metal Ingot with higher purity than scrap inputs |
| 2 × Scrap Metal | 1 × Metal Ingot with lower input purity |
The instruction sheet describes objects placed into the furnace, not units hidden inside a container. Input purity affects the ingot, so ore and scrap are not interchangeable if you care about the result.
Improve the input
Section titled “Improve the input”The Basic Smelting Agent and Advanced Smelting Agent improve Metal Ore purity when used during smelting. Treat them as process inputs, not as replacements for the two ore-or-scrap pieces.
Quick routine
Section titled “Quick routine”- Load two compatible ore or scrap objects.
- Add a flux agent if the input needs a purity boost.
- Confirm the furnace has power.
- Leave it overnight and inspect the ingot’s resulting purity.
